Buddies Thru Bullies is a rescue group that’s located in South Florida. They take in abandoned English bulldogs and foster them in private homes. This not-for-profit group is made up of individuals who are deeply concerned with the plight of homeless bullies, and there is no “shelter.”
Each rescued dog lives in a typical family home environment until it is adopted. The foster homes are located in Broward, Miami-Dade, Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Palm Beach counties.
The group has a great website, where recent rescues are displayed. Included are photographs of the dogs, along with personal information about each one. Sometimes there’s little background information on the rescued dogs, but each one is carefully assessed by its foster parent as to behavior and personality.
Bullies currently available for adoption range in age from three years to seniors. Some of the dogs have minor health problems, and the group is very open and honest about divulging that information. They want potential owners to be well informed about the responsibilities involved in having an English bulldog as a pet.
If you’re interested in adopting a bulldog from Buddies Thru Bullies, you can fill out their online application. Although the bullies are purebred, AKC registration papers aren’t usually available.
If your application is approved, you’ll need to travel to the foster home where your new pet is currently living. Also, the dog must travel to its new home by automobile.
Because of safety concerns, the group will not ship bullies by air. All adopted dogs receive a veterinary checkup and evaluation before going to their forever homes. They’ll also be up to date on vaccinations and will have already been spayed or neutered.
