Cat Hyperthyroidism can cause irritability, weight loss, an unhealthy coat, and hyperactivity. The thyroid glands are located near the throat, and cats suffering from the condition are often prone to excessive meowing and yowling.

Problems can be more serious, too. Hyperthyroidism in cats can also be responsible for a rapid heart rate, diarrhea, vomiting, and even congestive heart failure. If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms in your pet, it might be suffering from feline hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately, it’s a common condition, mostly affecting middle-aged cats and older animals.
